Volumetric Composition

Location: Kottarakkara,  Kerala, India.

Area: 3200 sqft.

The house was designed for a Muslim family where privacy was a concern. Every large windows and openings open out to external courtyards which was separated by buffer walls. Facade elements like large overhangs , large opening towards the north & east while minimal openings to south & west, skin wall with modern jali work, double layered shallow sloping roof, and  clerestory ventilation all elements helped to create a thermal efficient design.
